Biography

Tom Ahmed is a Registered Physical Therapist who has graduated from Queen?s University in M.Sc. PT.

Having earned two degrees in H.B.Sc. Biomedical Sciences and Kinesiology from Ottawa prior, Tom continues education at uOttawa: PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences, alongside interdisciplinary teams at various academic hospitals, advocating for better health after total hip and knee surgeries, by improving understanding of psychological factors influencing post-operative recovery such as anxiety, depression, resilience, and more.

He treats a wide array of conditions ranging from a variety of musculoskeletal injuries, chronic pain conditions, jaw (TMJ) issues, concussion, and vestibular challenges.

Tom Ahmed is a physiotherapist who enjoys cultivating long-lasting and healing relationships with his patients. A cornerstone of his practice relies on built trust and collaboration in clinical practice, pursuing patient centred care. Meaning that you are at the heart of your own care: your goals, ambitions, returning to your high quality of life. Tom?s primary objective is to serve your highest self and corresponding goals.

A pillar in his clinical practice is continuing education, to keep learning effective methods and treatments to help patients reach their health goals. He is trained in implementing Modern Manual Therapy Eclectic Approach, Strength and Conditioning using Barbell Therapy by American mentors in physiotherapy practice, Functional Dry Needling (FDN), Acupuncture, Temporomandibular Dysfunction (TMD) Eclectic Approach, McKenzie Low Back Pain management, Concussion and Vestibular management, Mindfulness-Based Stress reduction (MBSR) informed clinical practice to offer trauma informed patient care.

His own practices and physical activity practices and love for movement has informed his clinical practice: Having run a few ultra marathons, and engaging in cycling, swimming, pursuing martial arts, he has gained an appreciation and passion for movement. Pursuing musical practices by playing acoustic guitar and singing, he has integrated mindfulness-based practices such as breath and movement awareness in all the above practices. Thus, Tom continues to bring a wealth of experiences, knowledge, and passion to his patients.
